Masters of Korean temple cuisine who have captivated the world finally gather in one place.
Recently, the online video service (OTT) Wavve announced the exclusive release of the new food reality program 〈Chefs of the Offering Hall〉 on February 13. This program deeply explores the philosophy and meaning of practice embedded in food through the entire process of 'offering' (供養) prepared and shared by six masters of temple cuisine representing South Korea.
In 〈Chefs of the Offering Hall〉, Monk Seonjae, who left a strong impression as a 'white spoon' in season 2 of 〈Black and White Chefs: Culinary Class Warfare〉, joins alongside Monk Jeonggwan, who gained global recognition through Netflix's 〈Chef's Table〉. Along with Monks Gyeoho, Jeokmun, Daean, and Ugan, these six masters, the first of their kind to gather in one place in South Korea, will share their food, exchange philosophies, and engage in an exciting culinary competition themed around 'jang' (fermented sauces), showcasing an intriguing world of gastronomy.
〈Chefs of the Offering Hall〉 delves into the essence of the rising global trends of 'vegetarianism' and 'veganism'. Beyond the simple question of "What do we eat?", it seeks answers to the questions of "Why do we make it this way and why do we eat it this way?" Through this process, it is expected to resonate widely with both the older generation pursuing wellness and the MZ generation that values essential principles.
The Wavve original 〈Chefs of the Offering Hall〉 consists of a total of four episodes, all of which will be released on February 13.
