The Film Import and Distribution Association (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Association’) officially states its position regarding the recent confirmation of numerous cases of impersonation fraud, commonly known as ‘movie review part-time job’ scams, using the name of the association and its member companies.
Recently, some fraudsters have approached individuals under the pretext of writing movie reviews or evaluating content through social media, phone calls, and text messages, unlawfully using the logos or business registration certificates of real film companies, and inducing them to sign up for specific sites, demanding money for membership fees and movie ticket purchases. The association clearly states that these actions are blatant impersonation crimes completely unrelated to the association and all member companies.
The association and its members do not request individuals to purchase movie tickets, make advance payments, or pay fees under any circumstances. Furthermore, official recruitment or collaboration will only be conducted through the official websites and official social media channels of each member company.
The association is very seriously aware of the spread of damage caused by fraudulent activities that exploit the interest and affection of audiences for films, and we urge anyone receiving similar contacts to immediately cease communication and verify the facts through the official channels of the respective film company or the association.
Additionally, if financial damage has occurred or fraud is suspected, please report it promptly to the police (112) or the Cyber Crime Reporting System (ECRM).
The association will continue to work with member companies to provide ongoing guidance on related cases and will do its best to create an environment where audiences can safely access film content.
