Shin Hye-sun X Lee Jun-hyuk, Netflix Series ‘Lady Dua’ Production Presentation Successfully Completed!

The Netflix series 〈Lady Dua〉 that depicts the story of a woman ‘Sarah Kim’ who wanted to be a luxury item even if she was fake, and a man ‘Mu-gyeong’ who tracks her desires, successfully held its production presentation on February 10 (Tuesday). On this day, director Kim Jin-min, and actors Shin Hye-sun and Lee Jun-hyuk attended, sharing various stories and raising expectations for the work.

First, director Kim Jin-min introduced the work by saying, “It is a work that turns human desire into a drama. It is a work filled with the fun of watching two people, one chasing desire and the other chasing the one who chases desire.” He then announced the start of the production presentation. He continued, “When I first saw the script, I thought the structure was interesting, and the unpredictable development was a script that is hard to find these days. I wondered if I could do it well, but I thought I should challenge myself,” raising expectations for the work. Regarding the two actors, director Kim Jin-min said, “The character ‘Sarah Kim’ is a character that needs to be acted out in various ways, so I thought it would be difficult if the actor didn’t have potential. Working with Hye-sun, I just trusted her, and she showed tremendous concentration.” He added, “I thought the perspective of ‘Mu-gyeong’ is the viewer’s perspective, so I believed the color would change depending on who plays it. Jun-hyuk asked good and sharp questions, which was very helpful,” increasing curiosity about their chemistry. After eight years since the drama [Secret Forest], Shin Hye-sun and Lee Jun-hyuk, who reunited in one work, said, “Even though it’s been a while since we acted together, there was definitely a sense of trust that could be felt without words. It was a performance that was hard to do alone, but I was glad that I could rely on my senior” (Shin Hye-sun), and “I had a basic trust in actress Hye-sun, and I think she is a wonderful colleague. First, Shin Hye-sun, who plays ‘Sarah Kim’, the Asia branch manager of the luxury brand ‘Bdua’, introduced her character by saying, “‘Sarah Kim’ is a mysterious person that everyone knows, but no one really knows her. She is at the center of all events and holds the key.” Shin Hye-sun continued, “To portray a mysterious character who has lived a life that is hard to identify, I pondered whether I should act very differently as another person or as someone on a similar level, and I consulted a lot with the director. As a result, I thought I needed to give a significant visual change and expressed the atmosphere visually according to various identities,” raising expectations for her diverse portrayal. Lee Jun-hyuk, who plays the detective ‘Park Mu-gyeong’ who relentlessly pursues the ‘Sarah Kim’ case, explained his character by saying, “‘Mu-gyeong’ is a perfect detective who obsessively chases the ‘Sarah Kim’ case, but he is a character somewhat suppressed by the social system.” Lee Jun-hyuk stated, “‘Mu-gyeong’ was a challenging task. Since he is a character who meets all the characters, I paid a lot of attention to the tension felt on set and the rules of the work, and I tried hard to find balance,” revealing his focus on acting to help viewers follow the story well through ‘Mu-gyeong’s perspective.

Next, behind-the-scenes talks about the production process and filming set further heightened curiosity about the work. Director Kim Jin-min said, “I wanted to say that it can be persuasive from the viewers’ perspective and must look luxurious. I only mentioned that, and the art director led the rest. The cinematographer and lighting director chose the tone of the work well, which is suitable for a mystery thriller, and the professionals gathered to make good choices,” raising expectations for the details of the overall production completed through art, filming, and lighting. Additionally, Shin Hye-sun expressed, “Actress Shin Hye-sun showed a face that she hadn’t shown before, and the costume and makeup teams gave a lot of ideas to match the character. Each character had a clear concept, and I want to express my gratitude for creating me according to that,” increasing curiosity about the new side of Shin Hye-sun. Regarding the atmosphere on set, Lee Jun-hyuk said, “There was always a mission on set, and I sometimes got confused like ‘Mu-gyeong’. There was a healthy tension and stress that came from working hard, but it wasn’t bad, and I enjoyed the process of overcoming and finding answers,” revealing his passion for acting.

Finally, director Kim Jin-min stated, “I want to say that we really did our best. The work I did with the two actors had a significant impact on my direction, and I believe this is a work where you can see the strength, change, and future of these actors that you haven’t seen before.” Shin Hye-sun added, “I hope the viewers have a good time watching this work, and I hope it becomes a series that they want to watch again and again.” Lee Jun-hyuk remarked, “I think the story of a woman named ‘Sarah Kim’ who purely desires is the most interesting story at this point.
