Director Ryoo Seung-wan shared insights about his new film 〈Humint〉 which was released on February 11.
First, Director Ryoo Seung-wan explained the reason for highlighting the romance between actors Park Jung-min and Shin Se-kyung in this work, saying, "I didn’t expect the romance to be so prominent, both for Park Jung-min and myself. Of course, there were stories and emotional lines between these characters in the script, but it wasn’t something we intended to emphasize." He added, "People expect Park Jung-min's romantic acting? It was a kind of accident that happened not long ago."
Although the romance between the two actors was not intentional, the reason they could evoke such emotional lines is due to "the wide acting spectrum of Park Jung-min as an actor. In 〈Decision to Leave〉, even though it was a short but truly intense scene, didn’t we get to understand the nature of their relationship? I wanted to harness the power that such an actor possesses to create the film, and even after finishing 〈Humint〉, I thought, 'Wow, Park Jung-min really acts well.'"
'Humint' is a film that depicts a clash between individuals with different purposes in Vladivostok, where secrets and truths are submerged in the cold icy sea. It is currently racing for box office success, riding the momentum of the Lunar New Year holiday.
