Actor Jo In-sung revealed the secret behind his exceptional line delivery.
On the afternoon of the 11th, an interview was held in Jongno-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of the movie 〈Humint〉. On this day, Cineplay met with Jo In-sung to discuss various topics, from behind-the-scenes stories about the movie 〈Humint〉 to his honest acting concerns.
The film 〈Humint〉, directed by Ryu Seung-wan, tells the story of individuals with different purposes clashing in Vladivostok, where secrets and truths are submerged in a cold sea of ice. Jo In-sung plays 'Manager Jo', a National Intelligence Service agent of South Korea, who successfully carries out operations with sharp intuition and judgment even in dangerous situations, but struggles between a ruthless mission and human choices after losing an informant for the first time.
According to director Ryu Seung-wan, Jo In-sung memorized the entire script and trained on the pronunciation, endings, and rhythm of his lines, studying Manager Jo's dialogue in 〈Humint〉. Jo In-sung stated, "Considering time and action, I read the lines once every morning to completely internalize them. After 100 days, it flows out easily from my mouth," and added, "It's better the second time I memorize it than the first, and even better the third time than the second." He also mentioned, "As a senior actor, it's embarrassing to make mistakes on set. Also, if I make a mistake, I can disrupt my partner's rhythm. So even if I can't, I read the script at least once a day, and that's how I started to notice the rhythm of my lines," explaining the thoroughness of his script practice.
The movie 〈Humint〉 was released in theaters on February 11.
