British actor Robert Aramayo has become the star of the 79th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) held in his hometown of London, causing a significant upheaval in the global film industry.

◆ A New Record in 79 Years of BAFTA History... The Birth of a 'Monster Rookie'

At the awards ceremony held on the 22nd local time at the Royal Festival Hall in London, Robert Aramayo simultaneously won the Best Actor and EE Rising Star Award for his film 'I Swear'. This is the first time in BAFTA's history that both the leading and newcomer awards have been won at a single ceremony. Aramayo's victory over top Hollywood contenders like Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet, and Ethan Hawke drew awe from the gathered film professionals.

◆ A Tribute to Ethan Hawke... "The Secret to Longevity Lecture Changed My Life"

Aramayo's emotional acceptance speech, where he shed tears, was the highlight of the ceremony. He humbly expressed, "I can't believe I'm nominated alongside such greats." He especially conveyed his gratitude to senior actor Ethan Hawke, sharing a story about how a lecture on 'The Secret to Longevity as an Actor' that Hawke gave during his time at Juilliard became a significant milestone in his acting career, warming the atmosphere in the hall.

◆ Acting Embodying the Life of John Davidson... "I Met the Most Amazing Person"

The film 'I Swear', which brought Aramayo this honor, is based on the true story of Tourette syndrome activist John Davidson. This work, which captures Davidson's fierce life known through the 1989 BBC documentary 'John's Not Mad', has received praise for Aramayo's perfect portrayal of a character with tic symptoms, including their inner struggles and pain. Directed by Kirk Jones, this film achieved a triple crown at the awards, winning Best Actor, Rising Star, and Casting Award, proving its artistic merit.

◆ From Elrond in 'The Lord of the Rings' to Oscar Contender

Having gained public recognition for his role as Elrond in Amazon Prime's 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power', Aramayo has now firmly established himself as a serious actor with this award. Having already swept the British Independent Film Awards and the London Critics Circle Awards, he has been early identified as a strong contender for the Best Actor award at the 2027 Academy Awards (Oscars).
