(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Do-hoon = Maggie Kang, director of Netflix animation 'K-Pop Demon Hunters', is visiting the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 21st, greeting Director Yoo Hong-jun with a bright smile.
As global fans focus on the release timing of the sequel to Netflix's highest-grossing animated film 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 (hereafter 〈K-Demon Hunters〉), director Maggie Kang has stated that significant time will be required for the production of Season 2.
On the 19th (local time), Director Kang appeared on the 'Bloomberg Michelle Hussain Show' and said, "Unfortunately, there will be a long wait for anything to come out," adding, "Animation production takes a long time." Netflix signed a sequel contract with Sony Pictures Animation, the production company of 〈K-Demon Hunters〉, last year, but has not yet announced a release date.

Kristin Bellson, president of Sony Pictures Animation, also hinted in a recent interview with entertainment media 'Hollywood Reporter' that 〈K-Demon Hunters 2〉 has not yet entered the full production stage.
When asked about the progress of the sequel, he explained, "I was busy with various awards and events, and now (Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans) can finally return to their own space." Additionally, when asked if it would be difficult to release the sequel even in 2029, he responded with a silent positive gesture.
The story of 〈K-Demon Hunters〉, where a K-Pop girl group defeats evil spirits to save the world, was produced as a Netflix original animated film and gained explosive popularity worldwide. Last month, it won the Animation Award and the Best Original Song Award at the Golden Globe Awards, and earlier this month, the OST 'Golden' became the first in the K-Pop genre to win a Grammy Award trophy. It is also generating buzz as it has been nominated for both Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the upcoming Academy Awards next month.
