Rising star Shin Woobin made a dazzling entrance on the red carpet of the Berlin International Film Festival, one of the top three film festivals in the world.
On the 12th local time, Shin Woobin appeared at the opening ceremony held at Marlene Dietrich Platz as his film 〈My Name Is〉 was officially invited to the 'Forum' section of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival. It is quite unusual for a debut actor to receive an invitation to a prestigious film festival with their first leading role, and there was a surge of local interest in the newcomer who made his global debut.
On the red carpet that day, Shin Woobin stood proudly alongside the master of Korean cinema, director Jeong Ji-young, and the reliable actress Yeom Hye-ran, showcasing his strong presence as a lead in the film. His debut film, 〈My Name Is〉, is a generational mystery drama that tells the story of an 18-year-old boy who wants to abandon a name that doesn't suit him and his mother, who must protect that name, as well as their journey to uncover a promise made 50 years ago hidden behind that name. Shin Woobin plays the protagonist boy 'Young-ok', leading the narrative's central axis, delicately portraying the struggles of identity and secret emotions, earning critical acclaim.
The film 〈My Name Is〉, which combines director Jeong Ji-young's insightful direction and Shin Woobin's fresh energy, is set to be released in theaters nationwide in April 2026, reaching domestic audiences.
