Disney's live-action film project 〈Tangled〉 is finally wrapping up its major casting, accelerating production. With the news of Hollywood's "acting genius" Kathryn Hahn joining, a golden lineup boasting an unprecedented synchronization rate has been completed alongside the previously announced leads.
◆ Kathryn Hahn Cast as 'Mother Gothel'… From Agatha to Disney Villain
On the 11th (local time), Disney announced that Kathryn Hahn has been finalized for the role of the main villain 'Mother Gothel' in the live-action 〈Tangled〉. Having already showcased her unique villainous performance in the Marvel series 〈WandaVision〉 and 〈Agatha: All Along〉, she has been deemed the perfect fit to perfectly embody Gothel's madness and charisma, which is obsessed with youth. In particular, her outstanding vocal ability is raising expectations among global musical film fans about the synergy it will create with the original hit song 'Mother Knows Best.'
◆ 'Tangled' Teagan Croft & 'Eugene' Milo Manheim… A Fresh Harmony
The already confirmed cast from January is also impressive. For the role of the protagonist Rapunzel, Teagan Croft, who left a deep impression as Raven in the drama 〈Titans〉, has been cast, continuing the original's mysterious yet bold image. Her counterpart, the charming thief Eugene Fitzherbert (Flynn Rider), will be played by Disney Channel star Milo Manheim. The two actors reportedly showcased perfect chemistry in previous screen tests, leading to unanimous approval from the production team.

◆ 〈The Greatest Showman〉 Director at the Helm… An Overwhelming Feast for the Senses Expected
The megaphone for this live-action version will be held by Michael Gracey, who recorded global box office success with 〈The Greatest Showman〉. With his exceptional sense for musical direction, 〈Tangled〉 is expected to become a grand musical masterpiece that combines overwhelming visuals and magnificent music, going beyond a simple live-action adaptation. New numbers based on Alan Menken's original score are also expected to be added, increasing anticipation.
◆ Aiming for a 2028 Release… "Will Mark the Pinnacle of Disney Live-Action Adaptations"
With the main casting completed, 〈Tangled〉 is currently in pre-production and is set to begin full-scale filming in early 2027. Disney plans to utilize cutting-edge CG technology to bring Rapunzel's magical hair and the fantastic lantern festival scene to life. The film aims for a worldwide theatrical release in 2028.
