'Boyfriend on Demand' Seo In-guk, "Jisoo radiates a lovely energy that lifts everyone's spirits"

In , Seo In-guk plays the character Kyung-nam, who is outwardly aloof yet sensitive in real life, and the virtual world's perfectly customized lover, Young-il. His performances have gained significant attention, placing him high on the list of trending actors. On the 19th, through Netflix, Seo In-guk revealed that he focused on external changes and tone modification to differentiate the two characters. He said, "Kyung-nam wears glasses and has a calm voice, while Young-il has red hair and I aimed for a cheerful tone," adding, "To find the right balance, we held rehearsals discussing each scene with the director."

He also praised his co-star Jisoo, saying, "Jisoo radiates a lovely energy that lifts everyone's spirits," and shared, "As an actor with many ideas, I learned a lot during our discussions in the collaborative process."

Q. Are there any reviews from viewers or people around you that stand out?

I found it interesting to hear fans discuss who they preferred between Kyung-nam and Young-il. While Kyung-nam is a character with a sensitive nature amidst his stoic demeanor, Young-il is specific and outgoing, so I thought each had very different charms. I hope viewers could see that as well.

Q. What was the process of creating your character with director Kim Jung-sik?

First, we discussed the differences in their external appearances. Kyung-nam has glasses and a calm way of speaking, while Young-il has red hair and a more cheerful tone. I had experienced acting as two characters once during [High School King of Savvy], and this is my second time, which was really fun. Since there is only one actor, it's challenging to give distinct traits to appearance and voice tone, but I tried to find the right balance as it can feel excessive or lacking depending on how it's done.

Q. What are each other's biggest strengths and the atmosphere on set?

Jisoo has a bright and lovely energy that makes everyone feel good. Thanks to that, the set was always filled with laughter. When we were rehearsing, we discussed each scene together. Jisoo is also an actor full of ideas, so I learned a lot from our discussions throughout the process.

Q. What is your favorite scene from ?

I really like Young-il's first appearance. It's an impactful and shocking scene where the twist of the dual role is revealed. (laughs) There were also many exciting moments when Kyung-nam and Mi-rae recognized their feelings for each other in future scenes, but what stands out most is when Kyung-nam, while drunk, is collecting bottle caps and Mi-rae finds one and laughs. That's the scene that remains in my memory the most.

Q. How do you hope will be remembered by viewers?

Since it has a fresh and unique worldview, I hope it will be remembered as a new genre and a new romantic comedy.

Q. What should those who haven't watched look out for?

As mentioned earlier, I hope you enjoy the fresh worldview and the narrative of Mi-rae and Kyung-nam. Also, please pay attention to the tension created by Young-il's appearance and the growth of the two characters.
