CGV Hosts a Book Club Event to Celebrate the Release of “Project Hail Mary”

The movie theater is transformed into a giant library. To celebrate the release of the film adaptation of the novel 〈Project Hail Mary〉, CGV announced that it will host a special program ‘CGV Book Club with Project Hail Mary’ on the 27th, offering a special way to immerse readers in the original novel.

The program was planned in line with the “Text-hip” trend—where people, especially the MZ generation, consume reading as hip culture. It goes beyond simply watching a movie, giving participants a chance to experience the original story world in a three-dimensional way.

The event will be held in two sessions at Cine de Chef Yongsan Stressless Cinema on the 27th. All participants will receive the original book 〈Project Hail Mary〉, and they can enjoy about two hours of free reading time in top-tier recliner seats. In particular, the screening hall is set to feature immersive visuals and music with a space theme, expected to maximize the reading experience.

Book club participants will also be treated to Cine de Chef’s high-quality F&B service. The menu composition varies by session, allowing guests to choose according to their tastes.

Session 1: A light tea-time set with financiers, cookies, and an Americano

Session 2: A hearty meal set featuring Montan charcoal-grilled steak fillet-cheese sandwich, nachos, shrimp chips, and an Americano

Seong Ho-kyung of CJ CGV IMC Team said, “We prepared a program that combines reading with the theater environment, so audiences can add depth to the novel-based film,” adding, “Going forward, we will expand experience-focused content that can only be enjoyed in theaters by linking it with a variety of IPs.”

CGV decided to make this program a regular offering, drawing on the strong response to its reading-only theater run during last year’s April Fools’ Day, “C-Jip Bookshop,” which invited guests to enjoy books exclusively at the cinema.
