“Cape Fear” is a series that depicts how the peaceful everyday life of a married couple—lawyers “Anna” (Amy Adams) and “Tom” (Patrick Wilson)—is thrown into danger when the killer “Max” (Javier Bardem), who has decided to take revenge, is released from prison. Ahead of its June 5 (Fri) premiere, Apple TV’s new series “Cape Fear,” inspired by the 1991 film of the same name directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg, has released a teaser trailer.

The newly released teaser trailer immediately raises the tension with the intense visual transformation and commanding performance of Javier Bardem as the notorious killer “Max.” On top of that, the dramatic performances of Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson as “Anna” and “Tom”—a couple whose ordinary life collapses and spirals into a storm of crisis once “Max,” now out of prison, comes looking for them—add even more intrigue about the production. With a nail-biting storyline, powerhouse acting from top-tier performers, and a bold, intense approach to direction, “Cape Fear,” set to captivate audiences around the world, consists of a total of 10 episodes. Starting with the first two episodes on June 5 (Fri), new episodes will be released every week via Apple TV through July 31 (Fri). It can also be watched through the Apple TV app for Android devices. This series adds extra significance as Steven Spielberg—who was the producer of the 1991 film “Cape Fear”—and Martin Scorsese, the director, participate as executive producers. In addition, Amy Adams and Javier Bardem join not only as leads but also as executive producers, and Patrick Wilson, Joe Anders, Lily Collins, Malia Files, and CCH Pounder have come aboard as part of an ensemble cast.

“Cape Fear,” co-produced by Universal Content Productions (UCP) under the Universal Studio Group and Amblin Television, is based on both the novel “The Executioners” (The Executioners), which was inspired by the 1962 film of the same name starring Gregory Peck (produced by Universal Pictures), and the remake film directed by Martin Scorsese in 1991. Nick Antoska joined as showrunner and executive producer alongside Alex Hedelund of Eat The Cat, and Daryl Frank and Justin Falby of Amblin Television are also credited as executive producers. Morton Tildum directed the pilot episode and is also involved as an executive producer. “Cape Fear” was planned and produced through a first-look deal with Universal Content Productions, to which Nick Antoska has been affiliated since 2017.
