K-High School Students Confront a Death Curse App…Netflix’s First YA Horror “Girigo” Released Today (24th)

Netflix has unveiled a new series 〈Girigo〉 as it gets ready for release, and shared key viewing points.

The Netflix original series 〈Girigo〉 tells the story of high school students who receive a warning that they will die suddenly due to the curse of an app called “Girigo,” granted wishes—then do everything they can to escape that curse. As the first viewing point, 〈Girigo〉 highlights that it is the first “YA (Young Adult) horror” series in Netflix’s Korean content. Teen emotions become the source of the fear inside 〈Girigo〉; by meeting the situations of those grappling with all kinds of concerns—relationships with friends or family, grades, and self-identity—the series further maximizes psychological tension.

Next is the second viewing point: the meeting of fresh faces among the cast and crew. Rising stars such as Jeon So-young, Kang Mina, Baek Sun-ho, Hyun Woo-seok, and Lee Hyo-je join in great numbers, perfectly portraying the 모습 of teen students struggling to break free from the curse. Meanwhile, debut director Park Yoon-seo, whom Netflix tapped for the role, said, “When I read the script, the story felt fresh, so I thought it would be good to work with rookie actors to show that freshness to viewers,” adding that she infused the work with the charm of these new faces.
