Netflix’s First YA Horror Series “GIRIGO” Unveils Character Stills Featuring Five Distinct Personalities

Jeon So-young, Kang Mi-na, Baek Sun-ho, Hyun Woo-seok, and Lee Hyo-je—five high school students battling a curse

Netflix has released a set of character stills that capture tense moments from five high school students trapped in the curse of the wish-granting app 〈GIRIGO〉, in its ambitious debut Korean-style young adult (YA) horror series.

A cruel timer hidden behind the wish… the faces of five who’ve lost their peace

〈GIRIGO〉 still cut

〈GIRIGO〉 follows students who get caught in the curse of a mysterious app called “GIRIGO.” It grants users’ wishes—but also foretells sudden death. In the released stills, every detail is vividly portrayed: Se-a (Jeon So-young), who shows unwavering determination worthy of an athlete; Na-ri (Kang Mi-na), shaken by the fear of death beneath her glamorous appearance; Gun-woo (Baek Sun-ho), who stands up to terror to protect his girlfriend Se-a; Hyeon-jun (Hyun Woo-seok), who studies the app’s system with a cool, logical mind; and even Hyeong-uk (Lee Hyo-je), a mischievous troublemaker who stumbles into the curse first. Each character fights back in their own way as the countdown to death begins.

〈MOVING〉 director Park Yoon-seo’s stylish direction… a bold ensemble of rising new actors

This time, director Park Yoon-seo takes the megaphone for her latest project. Previously, she served as co-director for Disney+ 〈MOVING〉 and directed B episodes for season 2 of 〈KINGDOM〉. Park said, “The energy the new actors brought made the horror genre’s unique qualities feel even more realistic,” expressing her deep trust in the cast. In particular, the portrayals of characters making desperate choices amid sweat and wounds will go beyond simple scares—offering a three-dimensional look at teens’ anxious psychology and survival instincts.

Confirmed to premiere on April 24… “Do you have it? A wish you’ll beg for—no matter what.”

As the line “Do you have it? A wish you’ll beg for—no matter what” in the previously released teaser poster suggests, the drama delves into how the sweet temptation of wish fulfillment quickly turns into ruin. A visual device—the shrinking “red timer” on a smartphone screen—will build suffocating tension for viewers. Netflix’s series 〈GIRIGO〉, where the synergy of rising stars and strong acting meets a sensibility-forward approach to horror, will premiere worldwide exclusively on Netflix on April 24, 2026, simultaneously across the globe.
