Starting Monday, June 1st, on Disney+ every Monday and Tuesday, 〈Doctor Seomboi〉 is a work that tells the story of a medical human romance featuring public health doctor ‘Do Ji-ui’ (Lee Jae-wook) and nurse ‘Yuk Ha-ri’ (Shin Ye-eun), who enter the infamous island ‘Pyeondongdo’ that everyone avoids.
The released poster captures the moments between ‘Do Ji-ui’ and ‘Yuk Ha-ri,’ who meet at a subtly distanced spot as if they’re aware of each other, beneath the blue sea and dazzling sunshine, grabbing attention. The contrast between ‘Do Ji-ui,’ who draws careful lines with a wary, guarded gaze, and ‘Yuk Ha-ri,’ who seeps into him without hesitation, foreshadows the start of an exciting romance—along with the fun back-and-forth the two will share on the remote island ‘Pyeondongdo.’ Alongside this, “A chronic island trauma bulletin from the public health doctor—an acute island-kung rush of romantic excitement” suggests how the two’s feelings will gradually grow closer after an unexpected encounter, adding even more anticipation.

Above all, the exciting—and fun—romance chemistry that Lee Jae-wook and Shin Ye-eun will create is the strongest point of expectation for 〈Doctor Seomboi〉. Lee Jae-wook will take on the role of public health doctor ‘Do Ji-ui,’ who avoids the island due to trauma related to the sea, yet is unexpectedly assigned there. He will portray, through a careful emotional arc, how he gradually changes from guarded prickliness to full de-arming. Shin Ye-eun transforms into ‘Yuk Ha-ri,’ a kind nurse with a warm-hearted streak that no one can pass by—unfolding her bright, comforting energy together with a hidden, complex inner self in a three-dimensional way. In particular, the two characters with opposite temperaments will deliver an exciting yet enjoyable tiki-taka dynamic and romance chemistry set on a remote island, which is expected to win over viewers’ hearts.
On top of that, distinctive youth actors such as Hong Min-gi, Lee Soo-kyung, and Kim Yoon-woo join the cast, filling Pyeondongdo with richer, more diverse relationships and stories. In particular, 〈Boyhood〉 〈The Fiery Priest〉 director Lee Myung-woo, who showcased a sensorial approach through these works, and writer Kim Ji-soo, known for her meticulous writing, teaming up also raises expectations even further for the completed quality of the piece. Since it’s based on the popular KakaoPage webtoon [Joon-ber Doctor], fans of the original source are also highly anticipated. The medical human romance of island men and island women, set to deliver laughter, excitement, and warm comfort — 〈Doctor Seomboi〉 — will be released on Disney+ starting June 1st every Monday and Tuesday.
