The suspense thriller film 〈Eye Pupils〉, starring Shin Min-a, has confirmed its release on June 24 and unveiled a teaser poster.
〈Eye Pupils〉 is a suspense thriller that follows Seo-jin, who is gradually losing her eyesight due to a genetic disease, as she uncovers suspicions surrounding the death of her twin sister Seo-in—and ultimately comes face to face with the truth. It is the new film from Dream Capture, which produced 〈Hide and Seek〉, and it is directed by Yeom Ji-ho, who won at the 26th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival with 〈Next Door Neighbor〉.
In this film, Shin Min-a takes on a 1-person 2-role challenge. She will portray both Seo-jin, a photographer who investigates her sister’s death while losing her vision, and Seo-in, her twin sister, who overcame visual impairment to succeed as a ceramist—but meets an inexplicable death. The film plans to delicately depict the physical limitations and emotional changes of a character who gradually loses her sight.
Casting for supporting characters has also been confirmed. Kim Nam-hee will play Detective Do-hyeok, who keeps an eye on Seo-jin’s obsession while also becoming her eyes, tracking the case together with her. Lee Seung-ryong will portray Hyun-min, a model who shows relentless madness to Seo-jin, and Kim Young-a will appear as Detective Mi-kyung, who protects Seo-jin from the threats of a stalker.
The teaser poster released alongside the confirmed release date features an intense close-up visual of the eye pupils in a striking red hue, sparking an intuitive sense of tension and hinting at an extreme level of suspense.
〈Eye Pupils〉 is scheduled to open in Korean theaters on June 24.
