Kitts Original Film 〈After School Exorcism Club: Girls’ Night〉 is a teen occult comedy about five quirky high-school girls who band together to drive out the school’s resident ghost. As the theatrical installment of the Kitts premium short-form drama 〈After School Exorcism Club〉, released May 22, it marks the first time a short-form drama will be screened in theaters in South Korea, drawing attention.
〈After School Exorcism Club: Girls’ Night〉 was planned from the early stages as a package that includes a movie, a mid-length series, and short-form drama versions. Sharing the same universe as FIFTY FIFTY’s fourth mini album “Imperfect-I'mperfect,” it is characterized by scripts that incorporate settings that highlight each member’s individual personality and distinctiveness in many places.
The film does more than simply reshape a vertical short-form drama into a horizontal format. It adds narrative depth by using animation. It brings to life as animation the backstories of ghosts found in school legends—something you can’t see in the short-form dramas—completing a richer story line, and it combines live action with animation to deliver a fresh kind of fun.
The main poster released along with the opening news features the copy, “A Cursed School, Chosen Children,” and shows the FIFTY FIFTY members standing atop school stairs on a desolate night, a scene designed to draw in viewers. In the story, the members appear as high school students with all kinds of charms and face off against the ghosts from school legends. Kina plays the exorcism ace who can see ghosts, as well as “Najinsim,” a student who ranks last in the entire school. Moon Chanell plays “Wangsora,” a student-athlete with exceptional natural athletic ability. Ye-won plays “Choi Woo-suh,” a perfectionist who ranks No. 1 in the whole school, Hana plays “Geumjo-yeon,” an oddball and lovable member of the broadcasting club, and Athena plays “Jo A-young,” the only daughter of a local dignitary and an occult otaku.
Meanwhile, the screen debut work 〈After School Exorcism Club: Girls’ Night〉 by FIFTY FIFTY will open exclusively at CGV on June 25.
