Comedian Kim Gyu-won, who has appeared on 〈SNL Korea〉 and other programs, is taking on a dramatic role. CPN Entertainment said on June 30 that Kim has been cast in JTBC's new Saturday–Sunday drama 〈Apartment〉 (written by Kim Yoon-young, directed by Cho Yong-won), which is scheduled to premiere on July 11.

〈Apartment〉 is a slice-of-life drama about Park Hae-kang (Ji Sung), a former boss of the Oasis faction, who runs for head of the residents' representative council to seize hidden money in the complex and then works with residents to root out corruption in the apartment community. SLL and RedNine Pictures are co-producing.

Kim Gyu-won plays 'Keun-dungi,' a large-framed man who lacks tact and is easily frightened. The character is timid but also a capable homemaker who keeps his family fed, and Kim's approachable charm and lived-in style of acting are expected to add energy to the series.

Kim, who has earned notice for playing a range of characters in variety shows and YouTube content, aims to broaden his range as an actor through this project.

The JTBC weekend drama 〈Apartment〉, starring Ji Sung, Ha Yoon-kyung, Park Byung-eun and Moon So-ri, will premiere on Saturday, July 11 at 10:40 p.m.
