An R&B king who dominates the pulse of the era brings a masterful stage to quench an 8-year thirst
Khalid, 'Khalid', who reshaped the global R&B pop landscape, finally steps onto Korean soil. After an agonizing wait of eight years since his first Korea appearance in 2018, the show is drawing intense attention from the domestic music industry.
Live Nation Korea, the event organizer, officially announced that on Dec. 5, the singer will hold his solo Korea comeback at 'KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2, Hall 10' in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. The concert is part of the world tour 'It's Allways Summer Somewhere', which kicked off in grand style in May in Las Vegas, in the United States. It’s a major event that will instantly wipe away fans’ disappointment after a second Korea appearance was derailed by the 2020 pandemic.
Born in 1998, he burst onto the pop scene as a shooting star with his debut single 'Location' in 2016. Since then, he has churned out mega hits that cut across the times—'Talk', 'Better', and 'My Bad'—cementing himself as a trendsetter who can’t be replaced. His heavyweight track record, including seven Grammy Award nominations and wins at the Billboard Music Awards (six) and American Music Awards (four), underscores his overwhelming musical authority.
Rather than resting on the glory of his second studio album 'Free Spirit', which topped the Billboard 200, his evolution continues as his recent run of releases—including his third studio album 'Sincere' and his fourth studio album 'After the Sun Goes Down'—win over both critics and the public at the same time.
With global reach so big that he was named one of Time magazine’s '100 Most Influential People of 2019', he is also known for collaborations with A-list artists such as Billie Eilish and Justin Bieber. In particular, he recently made a surprise release of the single 'Singsing Special' in a collaboration with Korean actor Ahn Hyo-seop, revealing a special affection for Korea as well.
Live Nation Korea said the concert will be packed with a 'perfect setlist' spanning everything from classic early tracks to the latest songs. With a combination of tone that leads trends and meticulous live performance, this Korea comeback is expected to become the 'most must-see live show' of the second half of this year.
