American R&B star and Grammy-nominated artist Khalid has announced the resumption of his North American tour after 6 years. Approaching his 10th anniversary since debut, he is expected to present a narrative on stage that goes beyond simple performances, establishing his identity as a member of the LGBTQ community and showcasing his growth as an artist.
According to reports from Live Nation and Billboard on the 17th (local time), Khalid announced the official schedule for his 'It's Always Summer Somewhere Tour' through his social media. The tour will kick off on May 16, 2026, at PH Live in Las Vegas, and will visit 25 major cities in North America, including Chicago, Toronto, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and New York, concluding on June 26 in Berkeley, California.
◆ The Return of a Proven Hitmaker
The industry is paying attention to the impact Khalid's return will have. According to Billboard Boxscore data, Khalid's previous world tour, the 2019 'Free Spirit World Tour', generated $30 million (approximately 42 billion won) from just 35 performances in North America. This figure is three times the revenue of the 2018 'Roxy Tour', proving that his ticket power was on a steep rise.
This tour will feature singer-songwriter Lauv, the artist behind the global hit 'I Like Me Better', who has a strong fanbase in the country, as a special guest throughout the entire tour. The collaboration of these two 'vocal powerhouses' is seen as a factor that will further enhance the tour's potential for success.
◆ "In the Last 6 Years, Tremendous Growth"... A Compilation of 10 Years of History
At 27 years old, Khalid has given this tour a special meaning. He stated on Instagram, "Six years have passed since my last tour, and it has been 10 years since I started my career," adding, "Based on the growth I have experienced during that time, I will share songs that encompass all my eras on this stage."
This suggests that the stage will encompass his musical spectrum from his debut song 'Location' to his latest album, showcasing his growth from boyhood to adulthood.
◆ Coming Out, and 'The True Me'
This tour is a celebration of his 4th studio album 'After the Sun Goes Down', released last October, and it marks his first stage where he stands before the public in his most honest form. Khalid publicly came out as a member of the LGBTQ community through social media last November.
He described the new album as "a story about reclaiming my power, living in truth, and expressing myself freely." Critics expect that since he has moved beyond the struggles of identity to find his true self, he will deliver much deeper performances and messages during this tour than before.
