The Bloody Journey Begins: The Merciless Judgment of Four Daughters Who Overwhelm the Screen Starts

Eight years of waiting—and a single day of judgment. The four daughters’ harrowing blood-soaked journey, after losing their youngest, finally pulls back the curtain. Lotte Entertainment said on the 15th that ‘Lee Jungeun’ and ‘Gong Hyojin’ will star in ‘Gyeongju Trip’, which will have its official release on Aug. 26 next month.

‘Gyeongju Trip’ is a ‘revenge drama’ that tells the story of four daughters who kidnap the murderer who drove their youngest daughter to death on the day he is released from prison and set off on a path of private retribution. Beyond a simple crime thriller, the film is expected to showcase the essence of a ‘road movie’ where deep grief and madness intersect.

The casting lineup that will take over the screen is nothing short of overwhelming. ‘Lee Jungeun’ takes on the role of the mother, ‘Ok-sil’, who sharpened her blade of revenge for eight straight years, unleashing heavy-lidded charisma. ‘Gong Hyojin’ plays the eldest daughter, ‘Jang Joo’, and anchors the center of the drama with a desperate determination to protect her family. Joining as sisters are ‘Park Sodam’ and ‘Lee Yeon’, completing a perfectly synchronized acting ensemble, while ‘Byun Yohan’ serves as a hidden card that drives the tension of the film to its highest point.

The megaphone was taken up by ‘Kim Mijo’, the director who won the top award in the Korea Competition section at the 21st Jeonju International Film Festival with ‘The Seagull’. His solid storytelling and meticulous directing have already been proven on the world stage. In March, at the 24th ‘Florence Korean Film Festival’ held in Italy, he won the ‘Audience Award’, pulling in praise from both global critics and moviegoers even before its release.
