Country music’s fast-rising newcomer singer-songwriter Zach John King (Zach John King) has abruptly canceled all performances scheduled for the next two weeks after suffering a sudden death in the family.
■ “In the blink of an eye”… Heartfelt mourning
According to foreign media reports on Feb. 14 (local time), Zach John King said on his social media that his father, Erick (Erick), suddenly died and returned to the arms of Jesus.
King shared photos that captured memories from his childhood with his late father through recent times, writing, “My father was the support of our family and my best friend, and he was the greatest person I have ever known.” He added, “My father had a firm belief that always found joy even in the darkest moments he faced in life. Even though he sometimes frustrated me by making me wonder how he could be so joyful in the worst situations, his joy always came from hope in Jesus.”
He did not disclose the specific cause of death, saying, “In the blink of an eye (blink of an eye), my father went to heaven,” and added, “We wanted to stay with him for 25 more years, so this pain will remain as a deep wound for the rest of our lives. But I’m sure he will be waiting for me in the place where our souls long to go,” leaving those who read it with aching hearts.
■ A father who provided musical inspiration… A legacy contained in the ‘iPod shuffle’
King grew up in a small town in Fayetteville, Georgia, and while it was his grandparents’ influence that opened his eyes to music, the decisive helper who expanded his musical spectrum was none other than his father.
His father guided King’s musical growth by gifting him an “iPod shuffle” packed with all kinds of music, from Otis Redding to Alabama band hits. It was more than just broadening his knowledge of music—it made his father a spiritual mentor who shaped today’s artist, Zach John King.
King ended the tribute with a message that read, “I love you, Dad. See you soon,” adding that each morning he left behind the last words his father had given him, even on days when he didn’t want to listen.

■ Tour put on hold for the next two weeks… “After sharing our sorrow with family, I’ll return to the stage”
In the wake of his father’s death, Zach John King will pause all stage activities for the next two weeks and spend time with his family gathering himself through the grieving process.
Accordingly, he canceled schedules for major country music festivals he was set to appear at, including “Country Jam USA,” “Country Thunder Wisconsin,” and “Freedom Fest Little Falls, MN.” In addition, the special support dates he had agreed to join as an opening guest for country superstar Luke Bryan’s “Word on the Street Tour” and Riley Green’s “Cowboy As It Gets Tour” will also be temporarily suspended.
King said, “After spending time in sorrow, I will return to the stage that my father wanted most and sing there.” Fans and fellow musicians who learned of the sudden tragedy are sending warm messages of comfort and support through the comment section of his SNS, saying, “Deep condolences to Zach, who has such a great father,” and “I’ll pray that you’ll come back stronger to the stage.”
