Amid the shock of Darrell Sheets, a leading star on the popular U.S. reality show Storage Wars, passing away suddenly last April, a heartbreaking suicide note he is believed to have written just before taking his own life has now been made public, hitting fans around the world hard. The note laid bare that he had been enduring severe social media (SNS) cyberbullying and stalking.

■ Suicide note found in a bathroom corner… “I can’t take Facebook bullying anymore”
According to a case investigation report from the Lake Havasu City Police Department (local time) on the 9th, forensic investigators obtained a suicide note that appears to have been written by Darrell Sheets himself from inside the bathroom of his Arizona home, where he was found dead, from within a black basket.
The note, which appeared to be hurriedly written on the back of a document dated Feb. 20 of this year, was written in an extremely shaky handwriting. The suicide note included a resentful message: “I can’t endure cyberbullying (bullying) anymore through Facebook. [Anonymous redaction] should eat X.” It suggests that he had been suffering extreme mental anguish starting about two months before he took his own life on April 22.
■ The reality of an Oregon hacking stalker… Police investigation met with “not my problem” refusal
Police investigation found that a brutal online stalker lay behind the tragedy involving Darrell Sheets. In testimony, Darrell Sheets’ brother said, “Darrell complained that he has been harassed by a stalker since this January.”
Indeed, about a month before his death, on March 9, Darrell Sheets posted on his Facebook that “my account was hacked by a very wicked person living in Kaiser, Oregon. These people completely ruined me, and even people are coming to my workplace (antique shop) to try to hurt me,” adding, “If anything happens to me, it’s all because of [anonymous] and his wife.”
The detective assigned to the case made repeated attempts to contact the man identified in the suicide note and the post. The man was confirmed to have been extremely uncooperative, refusing to provide any information while calling from a blocked caller ID and saying, “I haven’t even been near Arizona or Lake Havasu City in the last few days.”
■ Family dispute erupted the day before his death… The last night of the tragedy witnessed by his girlfriend
The incident report also included the tense circumstances in the days just before Darrell Sheets’ death, as testified by his girlfriend. She said Darrell Sheets was suffering from severe stress and insomnia because of men online who were damaging his reputation.
On top of that, conflict within the family pushed him over the edge. A few days before his death, his son, Brandon Sheets, came to his home but left as if they had broken up after an argument stemming from a serious “family drama (conflict).” To make matters worse, on April 21—the day right before his death—Darrell Sheets received insulting text messages from his son’s wife (daughter-in-law), accusing her girlfriend of badmouthing and claiming that “that woman is stealing your money.” He fell into deep sorrow and frustration.
That night, Darrell Sheets, who got out of bed, went to his office. The girlfriend, who had sensed something strange and followed him, witnessed the shocking scene of Darrell Sheets sitting in a chair and aiming a handgun at his own head. Sheets shouted at her, “Go back to bed right now!” and the sound of a single gunshot rang out as she, terrified, left the room. The girlfriend immediately ran to the garage and called 911, but Sheets had already died.

■ Memorial held in tears as colleagues paid tribute… Son: “We will protect our father’s legacy”
The broadcasting industry was enveloped in deep sadness over the untimely death of Darrell Sheets, who collapsed in the face of the brutal reality of cyberbullying and family conflict. On June 29, his son Brandon and his ex-wife Kimber Woffel held a large memorial event, Celebration of Life, honoring the life of the late man. Many legendary cast members attended, including Dave Hester, who appeared alongside him in Storage Wars and had built a career as a longtime rival and colleague, as well as couples such as Renne and Casey Nezoda, all of whom bid farewell to him on his final journey with tears.
Kimber, the ex-wife, shared a memorial video on social media, saying, “On every chapter of the life Darrell had, friends gathered in one place to remember him. A night we will never forget.” Son Brandon Sheets said he plans to reopen the antique shop his father operated and cared about in the near future, and continue carrying on his legacy.
