Lee Kang-in Debuts as Atlético Madrid’s New No. 7 as 2026 Coupang Play Series Ends

The 2026 Coupang Play Series concluded with a marquee matchup between Manchester City and Atlético Madrid, highlighted by Lee Kang-in’s debut for the Spanish club and his official unveiling before Korean fans in Seoul. The second match, held Aug. 9 at Seoul World Cup Stadium, featured Lee's debut after joining the Spanish club and taking the No. 7 shirt, drawing loud cheers from local fans.

Lee, who came on as a second-half substitute, displayed his trademark close control and incisive passing across roughly 30 minutes on the pitch. The match opened with an early goal from Atlético Madrid’s Jorge Domínguez in the first half, but Manchester City staged a comeback in the second half as Antoine Semenyo, Omar Marmoussi and Rayan Aitnuri scored in succession to overturn the game and secure a 3-1 win. Both teams wore special jerseys bearing player names in Korean characters for the match.

After the final whistle, Lee took part in an official unveiling ceremony with fans in attendance. Spanish soccer legend David Villa and Coupang Play CEO Kim Seong-han presented Lee with bouquets to celebrate his new start. Lee said, "Having joined a good club at an important time, I will do my best to show you an even better side of myself."

The pregame preview show featured RESCENE’s Won-i and professional gamer "Keria" Ryu Min-seok. ATEEZ’s San took the ceremonial kickoff, and RESCENE performed at halftime, energizing the crowd.
