A YouTube variety show sparks a new unit, taking aim at the music industry with an unconventional genre blend
Girls' Generation's new unit 'HyoriSoo' (Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung) will finally be unveiled. According to 'SM Entertainment', the trio will release its first digital single, 'Skibidi', at 6 p.m. on the 31st, making a bold debut in the music industry.
The single contains two tracks: the title song, 'Skibidi', and the B-side 'Loki in Love'. The title track opens as a house song before shifting into hip-hop, creating a dynamic, multidimensional arrangement. Arabian string samples placed throughout heighten its exotic color, while the self-assured message, "We'll make a new path of our own," establishes 'HyoriSoo's' distinctive identity.
The B-side 'Loki in Love' is a retro-minded dance-pop track. Its lively brass session and groovy rhythm work in harmony to radiate positive energy.
The circumstances behind the new unit's creation have also fueled public curiosity. A playful battle over the main vocalist and center spot on Hyoyeon's personal YouTube channel expanded into an actual debut project. A number of artists, including TVXQ's U-Know Yunho, DinDin and John Park, lent their support, adding momentum to the group's debut story. Before the official release of the songs, the trio took the stage at the 2026 Caschool Festival, held on the 22nd at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, and gave the public its first look at performances of the new songs, sending anticipation to a fever pitch.
