Warmth blooms in a cold robotics lab in the master's final polished romance
The final work of the late Ahn Pan-seok, a master of Korean melodramas, 'Love Doctor' is finally coming to viewers. ENA officially announced that the new Monday-Tuesday drama, the late director's final work, will premiere Oct. 5 at 10 p.m.
'Love Doctor' is a distinctive romance set in a stark robotics lab. Choo Young-woo plays 'Park Min-jae', a doctoral student and former swimmer who loses one leg after an unexpected illness. He delivers a deeply nuanced performance of the character's inner life. Kim So-hyun plays 'Im Yu-jin', a master's student adrift at a crossroads in her career, delicately portraying the realistic struggles of youth.
Above all, the series carries special significance as the final 'well-made drama' from Ahn Pan-seok, who won widespread acclaim for his signature lyrical direction. Ahn collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage shortly after completing all filming and editing for 'Love Doctor' and died on the 12th of last month after battling the illness. The director's final all-out effort on the project is woven throughout, giving viewers an even more profound emotional afterglow.
The series will air simultaneously on the ENA channel, 'KT Genie TV' and the global over-the-top streaming platform 'Disney+', reaching viewers around the world.
