Two agents bound for 'Chile, 1973', in 'Martin McDonagh's' intricate narrative

'Wild Horse Nine,' winner of one of the top honors at this year's Venice Film Festival, will hit South Korean theaters in November. Distributor 'The Walt Disney Company Korea' officially announced the release schedule on the 14th.

The mystery spy thriller follows Chris and Lee, CIA agents secretly dispatched to Easter Island just before the 1973 coup in Chile, as they become entangled in a massive conspiracy. More than a conventional spy movie, the film stands out for the overwhelming tension created by its historical setting.

The film was directed by 'Martin McDonagh,' who swept the 2018 Academy Awards with the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor prizes for 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' (2017). His trademark sharp direction and unpredictable storytelling shine in the new film as well.

John Malkovich's commanding performance draws a 13-minute standing ovation

The film, which competed in the '83rd Venice Film Festival' competition section that ended on the 12th local time, earned widespread critical acclaim after drawing a remarkable 13-minute standing ovation immediately after its official screening. 'John Malkovich,' who led the film as agent Chris, was especially praised for his commanding performance and took home the Best Actor prize, the 'Volpi Cup.'

'Sam Rockwell,' who showed perfect chemistry with director Martin McDonagh in 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,' joined the cast as agent Lee, elevating the film's overall quality to its highest level. The chemistry between the two acclaimed actors is expected to command the screen.

South Korean audiences will be able to see the film first at the '31st Busan International Film Festival' ahead of its official release. The film was selected as an official invitation to next month's festival and is set to make its debut before Asian audiences.
