From Grammy glory to global jazz's present, 64 masters fill the festival with music

The '23rd Jarasum Jazz Festival', which runs for three days through the 11th, will feature 64 acts from South Korea and abroad, including global jazz heavyweights 'Nate Smith' and 'Tigran Hamasyan'.

Opening the festival on its first day, drummer 'Nate Smith', who established his global reputation by winning two awards at this year's Grammy Awards, will showcase his commanding rhythmic style. The autumn night will also be filled with jazz from top-tier musicians including trumpet player 'Takuya Kuroda', known for his singular sound; 'Song Young-joo', a leading figure in Korean jazz piano; and 'Annoyingbox', an 18-member ensemble renowned for its majestic scale.

On the second day, scheduled for the 10th, Cuban-born piano virtuoso 'Alfredo Rodriguez' will deliver a bold performance that precisely combines traditional classical music with Afro-Cuban rhythms. Portugal's 'Bruno Pernadas' will follow, along with 'Kim Oki Luv', led by innovative saxophonist 'Kim Oki', captivating the audience in turn.

The festival's final day will feature 'Tigran Hamasyan', who blends Armenian folk music with jazz, and 'JSFA', South Korea's leading funk-jazz band. Together, they will unleash explosive energy for a dazzling finale.

A perfect retreat in nature, with an autumn picnic for the whole family and their dogs

Visitors can escape the confines of the crowded city, spread out blankets on Jarasum's green lawns and enjoy an 'autumn picnic'. In a measure designed with future generations in mind, the festival offers 'free admission for elementary school students and younger' and has introduced a '50% discount for middle and high school students', significantly expanding access to culture.

Reflecting the times, the festival fully allows 'dogs to accompany visitors', creating an environment where everyone from single-person households to large families can enjoy the event without restrictions.

Beyond the main stage on Jarasum, diverse 'street performances' will take place simultaneously throughout Gapyeong-eup, turning the entire community into one vast jazz club.
