K-pop group RESCENE appeared on SBS's main evening newscast, 'SBS 8 News,' where the members reflected on their journey since debut and spoke candidly about their recent chart resurgence.
On the Nov. 11 broadcast of 'SBS 8 News,' RESCENE (Woni, Minami, Liv, Jena, Mei) explained why they have presented music under the concept of "scent," saying, "Just as a pleasant scent makes you turn back, we want our music to make listeners recall their own stories and memories," and expressed gratitude to their fans.
Asked about the reasons behind their chart resurgence, the members pointed to the long-built "story" and their authenticity. Minami said, "It seems the process and messages we've worked on since debut have been absorbed into the music." Liv replied, "We're grateful that people have seen us as we are and then sought out our music." Asked whether the group feels its growing popularity, Woni said, "It's still an embarrassing way to put it," adding, "I feel it a bit when audiences sing along at events. One thing that's changed is that our dorm is bigger now, so we can finally use separate bathrooms," which drew amused laughter.
They also shared a message of support for fellow artists who have yet to get their break. Woni, eyes welling up, said, "I've learned that hard work never goes to waste, so I want to tell people not to give up," and added, "We want to be a group that always gives hope to those who dream." Jena and Mei said they were able to get through it because the five of them were together, and they added that they hope their music comforts those going through hard times.
RESCENE is set to return Nov. 3 with its fourth EP, "Pulse (PULSE)," whose title refers to a heartbeat. The members asked fans to look forward to it, saying, "It's a song that can make listeners' hearts beat and contains stories that can connect to each person's life."
The full interview will be released on SBS's official website and YouTube channel on the 14th.
