A new leap aimed at global fans: a beloved song reborn in Korean
Six-member girl group LIGHTSUM (Sangah, Chowon, Nayoung, Hina, Juhyeon and Yujeong), known for their solid skills and diverse charms, will release “Eotteokhae” on the 22nd, the Korean-language version of their Japanese debut song “Doshite” (どうして·Doshite). Their agency, CUBE Entertainment, said the release will mark the start of plans to deepen engagement with fans at home and abroad.
“Eotteokhae” is drawing attention both inside and outside the music industry as LIGHTSUM’s first new song in Korea in no fewer than two years. The track delicately captures the innocent, fluttering feelings of being swept up in every small word and action of someone you like. Given the strong response to the original Japanese version, the Korean version is also expected to quickly win over listeners at home with the group’s signature refreshing energy and emotion.
The group is also kicking off its full-fledged comeback activities. On the 22nd, the day the song is released, LIGHTSUM is set to take the stage on Mnet’s flagship music program “M Countdown” and give the first performance of “Eotteokhae.” As this will be their first appearance on a Korean music show in a while, the members are said to have made thorough preparations to showcase their growth and polished performance.
Their global activities are also continuing. LIGHTSUM will hold a solo showcase on Dec. 28 at Spotify O-EAST in Tokyo, Japan. The event is expected to give the group a chance to connect directly with local fans and once again demonstrate its strong global presence. All eyes are on the group’s rise as it signals a flurry of activities after a long hiatus.
