‘SNL’ Hit Sketch Gets a Star-Studded Sitcom Spinoff in Surprise Teaser

〈Smile Clinic〉, now spun off as a sitcom, announced its arrival with a surprise teaser.

Coupang Play’s sitcom 〈Smile Clinic〉 released a surprise teaser trailer on Nov. 2. Based on the sketch of the same name from Coupang Play’s variety show 〈SNL Korea〉, 〈Smile Clinic〉 follows the goings-on at a cosmetic dermatology clinic called “Smile Clinic.” The sketch was one of 〈SNL Korea〉’s most talked-about segments, earning viewers’ affection especially for the actors’ performances and the chemistry among their characters.

In the surprise teaser released that day, Kim Kyu-won appears and responds to fans’ earnest pleas to “please make it a sitcom” with his signature deadpan line, “I’ll go ahead and whip one up for you,” announcing 〈Smile Clinic〉’s spinoff. Returning from the sketch are regular cast members Kim Kyu-won, Lee Soo-ji, Ji Ye-eun, Jeong Hee-su, Ahn Ju-mi and Kim Won-hoon, along with actors Gong Min-jeong, Lee A-ra and Jeong Chang-hwan, who appear as members of the nursing team and bring the laughs.

According to the information released so far, 〈Smile Clinic〉 will stream exclusively on Coupang Play every Thursday at 5 p.m. starting Dec. 3. It will be free to watch for all Coupang members.
