A variety show takes on the threat of rural depopulation, bringing new life to a stone-wall village in Namhae
tvN’s variety show “Unpredictable 2” has confirmed a first-half broadcast next year and will unveil a special project in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
“Unpredictable” is a reality variety show that follows comedian Kim Sook as she renovates a house she bought after dreaming of owning a home on Jeju Island, working to restore the property for use again. This season goes far beyond simple home repairs, greatly expanding the project with the goal of revitalizing rural communities, an issue that has become a national priority.
The production team is working with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to launch the “Vacant Home Refresh” project, which aims to breathe new life into rural areas facing the threat of depopulation. Returning from last season are comedian Kim Sook, Song Eun-yi, who showed great chemistry with her last season, actor Lee Chun-hee, and singers Bbaek Ga (Baek Seong-hyeon) and Jang Woo-young, lending the program added credibility.
Their first destination is the Daejipo Stone Wall Workcation Village in Namhae, South Gyeongsang Province. The team plans to transform neglected spaces into homes with a modern feel and practical features. Applications are open through December 4 for people hoping to live in the completed homes. Attention is focused on whether the project can become a successful model of collaboration between the local community and a variety show.
