'Avatar: Fire and Ash' Confirmed for December Release!...The Boldest Work in the Series Teased

Considered one of the most anticipated films of the year, 〈Avatar: Fire and Ash〉 has confirmed its December release, capturing the attention of audiences. The distributor announced on the 23rd that a 3D trailer screening event was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall.

The third installment of the Avatar series, 〈Avatar: Fire and Ash〉, will meet audiences three years after its predecessor, 〈Avatar: The Way of Water〉. As hinted in the title, a new force known as the 'Ash Clan' is set to emerge, indicating a shift in the existing narrative.

The most notable character in the released trailer is Barang, the leader of the Ash Clan. With red face paint, Barang presents a fierce impression with sharp eyes. Particularly, in a scene where he tells Dr. Grace's daughter, Kiri, "Your goddess has no power here," a contrasting hostile nature compared to the Na'vi is highlighted.

The Ash Clan is depicted as nomads wandering the world after their civilization was destroyed by a volcanic eruption. They are known to be a completely different type of clan compared to the Na'vi featured in the first two films, suggesting a new conflict that deviates from the existing human versus Na'vi dynamic.

Director James Cameron stated in a foreign media interview last January that "〈Avatar: Fire and Ash〉 may be the boldest work in the series so far," hinting at a narrative that exceeds audience expectations. The battle scenes captured in the trailer showcase the largest scale in the series. From the fiery skies of Pandora to the forests and oceans that were the main stages in the first two films, action unfolds across all spaces.

In particular, the appearance of a new giant creature that resembles a combination of a jellyfish and a hot air balloon is expected to enrich the visual spectacle. Kiri, who has an exceptional ability to connect with nature, is shown in awe of these giant creatures, hinting at a new form of communication.

In terms of casting, major actors from the existing series, including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet, will return. Additionally, Una Chaplin, the granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, has joined the cast, drawing attention.
