〈Omniscient Reader: The Prophet〉 has surpassed 〈Fantastic Four: A New Beginning〉.
According to the KOFIC integrated ticketing system on July 25, 〈Omniscient Reader: The Prophet〉 attracted 200,000 viewers, while 〈Fantastic Four: A New Beginning〉 (hereafter 〈Fantastic Four〉) drew 70,000 viewers. The two films, which were released on July 23 and 24 respectively, have become major blockbusters this summer, showing a significant difference from the starting line.
〈Omniscient Reader: The Prophet〉 is based on the web novel of the same name by author Sing Shong, depicting the survival process of Kim Dok-ja, the only reader of a fantasy novel, as the same events unfold in a world on the brink of destruction. Starring Ahn Hyo-seop, Lee Min-ho, Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, and Nana, it is produced by Won Dong-yeon, the producer of the 〈Along with the Gods〉 series, raising expectations for another box office record.

〈Fantastic Four〉 features the world’s first family heroes from Marvel Comics, the ‘Fantastic Four’, as they confront the planet-consuming cosmic entity ‘Galactus’. Although it is a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, it differentiates itself with its independence, allowing viewers to enjoy it without prior knowledge of previous works, while incorporating a retro feel from the 1960s.
Thus, the two films released in the fourth week of July seem to have resulted in a decisive victory for 〈Omniscient Reader: The Prophet〉. In particular, 〈Omniscient Reader: The Prophet〉 attracted 120,000 viewers on its opening day, and the number rose to 200,000 on the 24th, gaining momentum at the box office.
