Fly to the Sky member Brian revealed the shocking reality of suffering from death threats by a persistent malicious commenter for 7 years. On the afternoon of the 28th, Brian shared hundreds of DM (direct message) records received from a malicious commenter through his Instagram story, expressing his unbearable pain.
The disclosed messages were shocking in both quantity and content. The malicious commenter continuously hurled abusive language such as 'Die', 'You were born a snake, doing all sorts of dirty deeds with lies and fraud', 'Go to America, psycho. Just disappear to North Korea', 'You think you can live after scamming for 15 years? No way', 'High school graduate, snake, disappear. You're trash'.
What is particularly concerning is the direct death threats. The malicious commenter repeatedly sent threatening messages like 'I'll bury you in the mountain, even if it's just a photo. You're a dead man', 'I want to kill you like a sociopath and live without guilt. Die, demon', 'If you don't want to die by my hand', 'Because of you, our dog is gone. I'll kill you'. These messages were filled with content that clearly constituted death threats beyond mere malicious comments.
Even more serious is the fact that this harassment is not limited to online. The malicious commenter has identified Brian's personal information and is known to have engaged in offline stalking behavior, such as knowing his home address and sending packages. This suggests a potential escalation from simple cyberbullying to a real threat to personal safety.
Brian's revelation this time is not sudden. He had already publicly appealed about the same issue in 2018. At that time, Brian expressed his desperate feelings through SNS, saying, 'Can someone help? This person is tormenting me too much, not just me but also my friends, relatives, and family. Please, is there any way to deal with this person?'
In an interview with KBS 2TV's 'Entertainment Weekly' at that time, Brian indicated legal action, saying, 'It's not just through SNS; packages have come to my house. They know my home address, so I thought it was more dangerous. If it has to go to the end, I have no choice but to go.' However, it is even more heartbreaking that the harassment from the same presumed perpetrator continues even after 7 years.
This incident once again highlights the seriousness of malicious comments and stalking that celebrities face. In particular, the harassment that has lasted for 7 years suggests how great the mental suffering of the victim must be. As Brian has finally revealed direct evidence out of frustration, it seems that more effective legal measures are necessary this time. There is an urgent need for social awareness of cyber violence and stalking, along with institutional improvements for victim protection.
