Actor Song Young-kyu (age 49), who left a strong impression on the public as Chief Choi in the movie 'Extreme Job', was found dead on the morning of the 4th in a residential complex in Yongin.

The Yongin Dongbu Police Station reported that Mr. Song was found dead in a vehicle in a residential complex in Cheoin-gu, Yongin at around 8 a.m. that day. It is said that a friend discovered Mr. Song and reported it to the police.

A police official stated, "No signs of foul play were found at the scene, and there was no suicide note." The police added that they plan to investigate the exact circumstances of Mr. Song's death with his bereaved family.

Mr. Song was recently embroiled in controversy over drunk driving. He was caught driving under the influence on June 19 at around 11 p.m., driving approximately 5 km from Giheung-gu to Cheoin-gu in Yongin. As this fact became known later, Mr. Song caused a significant stir by stepping down from the projects he was involved in.

Mr. Song made his acting debut in 1994 with the children's musical 'Mertel Dosa' and has built nearly 30 years of acting experience. He has worked across various genres in film, drama, and theater, and in 2022, he served as a special professor in the Department of Acting Arts at Semyung University.

Mr. Song's representative work is the movie 'Extreme Job', which was released in 2019. He played the role of Chief Choi in the film, winning the audience's love with his unique comedic performance. He later showcased impressive acting in the Netflix original series 'Suriname' (2022) and 'Casino' (2022), earning recognition for his acting skills.

He was actively working until recently. He played the role of a pastor in the currently airing ENA Monday-Tuesday drama 'I Shopping' and served as the rugby team coach in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Try'. He had stepped down from the play 'Shakespeare in Love' after the 25th of last month.

Mr. Song is survived by his wife and two daughters. The funeral is arranged in Room 1 of the Davos Hospital funeral home in Yongin, and the burial site is at Hambeoksan Memorial Park. The funeral is scheduled for the morning of the 6th.
