Netflix original series 〈One Piece〉 has confirmed the production of Season 3 ahead of the release of Season 2.
〈One Piece〉 is based on the manga of the same name by Eiichiro Oda, depicting the journey of Straw Hat Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) as he sets out with his friends to become the Pirate King. Starting serialization in 1997, it is a long-running manga that has sold over 500 million copies to date, and Netflix has invested heavily in its live-action adaptation. The 〈One Piece〉 released on August 31, 2023, proved its popularity by ranking first in official charts immediately after its release.
In response, Netflix began production on Season 2 and released videos and images on August 10 to confirm that it is being produced smoothly. Additionally, at the same time as the video release, it was announced at an event related to the original manga that production for Season 3 has also begun. Netflix appears to be continuing the live-action 〈One Piece〉 series while also preparing a remake of the animated 〈One Piece〉, indicating a steady partnership with the original creator, Eiichiro Oda.
〈One Piece〉 is scheduled to be released in 2026, with the Alabasta arc of the original story expected to be a focal point.
