The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping Adds Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close and Elle Fanning; Opens Nov. 18

The film 〈The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping〉 (directed by Francis Lawrence) will open in South Korean theaters on Nov. 18. Nuri Pictures Co., the film’s importer and distributor, announced the release date on the 22nd and unveiled the cast lineup, a donated arena poster and a trailer.

〈The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping〉 is a brainy survival thriller set during the deadliest 50th Hunger Games, where the survival rate is zero. Marking the second 25th anniversary, this Hunger Games doubles the usual field with 48 tributes and expands the scale with a vast forest arena. The film follows the brainpower-driven fight for survival of the genius Haymitch, who tries to hack the rules and bring down the system inside a brutal arena programmed to turn everything from a single flower petal to the flutter of a butterfly’s wings into a weapon.

Joseph Zada, a newcomer, plays Haymitch, the protagonist who turns the tables with overwhelming intelligence despite receiving the lowest score in history: 1 point. McKenna Grace plays Maysilee, his fellow tribute from District 12.

A large roster of Hollywood actors has also joined the cast to complete the Capitol’s world. Ralph Fiennes anchors the story as the cold and calculating President Snow, while Glenn Close plays Drusilla Sickle, an attendant from District 12. Kieran Culkin portrays Hunger Games host Caesar Flickerman, Elle Fanning plays tribute stylist Effie Trinket, and Jesse Plemons takes on the role of Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee, completing a bizarre and dazzling ensemble.
