Bechdel Day 2025, Bechdel Choice 10 Dramas and Movies Announced

Bechdel Day 2025 has selected 10 films and series for this year's gender equality recognition.

Bechdel Day is a content festival that aims to raise audience awareness of gender equality through films and series and contribute to cultural diversity, hosted by the Directors Guild of Korea (DGK). Since its debut in 2020, which selected 10 films, it has added 5 series in 2022 to reflect on gender equality in the content industry.

This year, Bechdel Day 2025 selected from 125 films and 102 series released from June 2024 to May 2025, based on works that exceeded 7 criteria including the Bechdel Test. The 10 films in the Bechdel Choice category are 〈The Black Nuns〉 〈To Her〉 〈About My Daughter〉 〈Lucky Apartment〉 〈Revolver〉 〈Victory〉 〈Minimum Goodness〉 〈Breakthrough〉 〈High Five〉 〈I Hate Korea〉 were selected. The 10 series in the Bechdel Choice category are 〈Good Partner〉 〈She Who is Different Day and Night〉 〈Unknown Seoul〉 〈Good Competition〉 〈Mrs. Ok's Story〉 〈Such an Intimate Betrayer〉 〈Retirement〉 〈Quiet Sales〉 〈Totally Deceived〉 〈Hyper Knife〉 were selected.

Additionally, the Bechdelian who contributed to diversity in the content industry includes director Im Mi-rang for 〈About My Daughter〉, actress Lee Hye-young for 〈Breakthrough〉, producer Lee An-na for 〈Victory〉 and 〈High Five〉, and writer Kim Soo-yeon for 〈Minimum Goodness〉. The Bechdelian for the series category has not yet been announced.

Bechdel Day 2025 will be held for two days from September 6 to 7 at KU Cinematheque. A special talk titled 'Meeting with Bechdelian' will be held to discuss gender equality in content with this year's Bechdelian, along with a 'Special Planning Talk Program' to communicate the purpose of Bechdel Day more easily and comfortably to the audience. There will also be a 'Free Screening' of the works selected as 'Bechdel Choice 10' in theaters.
