The musical 'Aladdin', which garnered great attention with its Korean premiere, has set a record by surpassing 300 performances, receiving warm love in both Seoul and Busan.
According to the musical 'Aladdin' team, the Korean premiere opened on November 17 last year at the Charlotte Theater and successfully concluded its 260 performances in Seoul on June 22 this year. Following that, in the last city, Busan, it achieved the remarkable feat of reaching 300 performances in a single season just about a month after its opening at the Dream Theater on July 11.
World-Class Cast Completes Full Run
The 37 main actors of the Korean premiere, who have received worldwide acclaim, have led all performances from Seoul to Busan, with the original cast members Jeong Yeol, Seo Man-seok, and Yuk Hyun-wook simultaneously setting the record for 300 performances.
Jeong Yeol, who plays Iago, expressed his feelings, saying, "The top priority goal I had was to 'safely complete all performances', and although there were dizzying moments, I feel proud to be getting closer to that goal."
Actors' Emotional Reflections on 300 Performances
Seo Man-seok, who plays Qasim, said, "On the first day of rehearsal, I was so excited that my heart felt like it would burst, and I can't believe it's already 300 performances. It still feels like a dream," adding, "From the first performance to the 300th, I was overwhelmed every time, and this happy performance could even go for 3,000 performances."
Veteran actor Yuk Hyun-wook, with 26 years of experience, also shared his special feelings. Yuk Hyun-wook, who plays Omar, said, "This is the first time in 26 years of doing musicals that I've completed 300 performances of a single show. I'm happy to have that first experience with 'Aladdin'," and added, "There are many touching and emotional memories, and I want to encourage my colleagues to enjoy the remaining performances together."

Leading Actors' Continuous Record March
Actors playing major roles such as Aladdin, Genie, Jasmine, Sultan, Jafar, and Babkak are also setting records of 100 and 150 performances daily, creating a new milestone in the musical industry. This is a rare long-running performance record in the history of Korean musicals, proving both the quality of the work and the enthusiastic response from the audience.
Achieving No. 1 in Musical Box Office for the First Half of 2025
Continuously hitting in both Seoul and Busan, 'Aladdin' is attracting audiences to theaters and is gaining attention for its long-running success. Following sold-out shows at the end of the year, the Seoul performance of 'Aladdin' achieved the remarkable feat of ranking No. 1 in the musical box office for the first half of 2025 according to the integrated performing arts computer network KOPIS.
The Busan performance is also currently ranked as the only regional performance in the top 10 for ticket sales, showing an extraordinary box office success for a local show.
Audience Gathering from Across the Country
Currently, about 40% of ticket buyers at the Dream Theater are from other regions. This is analyzed to be due to the demand for cultural activities and travel during the summer vacation season, as it is the last city where audiences can experience the Korean premiere.
This indicates that 'Aladdin' has established itself as a national cultural content beyond a simple regional performance. It is also recognized as a must-see for tourists visiting Busan, positively impacting the local cultural tourism industry.
Setting a New Benchmark in the Musical Industry
The surpassing of 300 performances by 'Aladdin' is setting a new benchmark in the Korean musical industry. It is very rare to successfully operate such a long-running performance in a single season, drawing attention from industry insiders.
This is expected to serve as an important reference for the planning and operation of large musicals produced in Korea in the future. In particular, it has significant meaning in proving the potential for regional touring performances and as a national cultural content.
New Trend in Cultural Tourism During Summer Peak Season
The success of the Busan performance is showing a new trend in cultural tourism during the summer peak season. With high-quality cultural content combined with traditional summer vacation activities like beach outings, a new form of cultural tourism is gaining popularity.
This trend is expected to provide important implications for the development of the local cultural industry in the future. The success of 'Aladdin' is anticipated to influence the planning of cultural content in other regions.
