Actor Eun-kyung Shim's starring Japanese film 〈Travel and Days〉 has won the Golden Leopard Award, the highest honor in the international competition section at the 78th Locarno Film Festival, as announced by the distributor Etnine Film on the 18th.

〈Travel and Days〉 is based on the manga of the same name by Japanese cartoonist Yoshiharu Tsuge. The work delicately portrays the inner changes and growth experienced by the protagonist 'I' (played by Eun-kyung Shim) as she meets the innkeeper Benzo (played by Shin'ichi Tsutsumi) amidst the snowy landscapes of her travel destination.

Director Sho Miyake, who directed this work, is regarded as a next-generation master gaining attention in the Japanese film industry. He has received international recognition by being invited to the Berlin International Film Festival for three consecutive years through his works 〈And Your Bird Can Sing〉 (2020), 〈Small, Slow but Steady〉 (2023), and 〈All the Long Nights〉 (2024).

Eun-kyung Shim expressed her gratitude for the award, stating, "It was an honor to play the protagonist in 〈Travel and Days〉" and added, "I am truly happy that the journey I walked with the director and staff has borne such valuable fruit."

Director Sho Miyake also shared his reflections, saying, "While making 〈Travel and Days〉, I was able to feel my love and trust for cinema and my affection for the world once again."

The film 〈Travel and Days〉 is set to meet audiences in domestic theaters this winter.
