Rowoon's Intense Transformation! Disney+'s First Original Historical Drama Series 'Tangled'

〈The Wedding Battle〉 〈This Love is Unstoppable〉 〈Tomorrow〉 〈Yeonmo〉 〈A Day Found by Chance〉 and other modern and historical dramas have built a diverse acting spectrum, and the next-generation star actor Rowoon is making the roughest and most intense transformation in his filmography through 〈Tangled〉.

Rowoon plays the character 'Jang Si-yul', who becomes a 'Walpai' from a laborer struggling to survive day by day in Gyeonggang, and is expected to show a new side to the public. 'Si-yul' lives under a hidden name due to a secret from his past, and when he is discovered by 'Mudeok' (Park Ji-hwan) at the Mapo ferry where he worked, he steps into the world of 'Walpai'. Although he did not want to become a 'Walpai' more than anything, he accepts his unavoidable fate and strives to establish order at the ferry in a Joseon that has been corrupted by those who pursue wealth and power over human life. Rowoon introduced, "'Si-yul' is a youth like a wanderer always ready to leave, but he finds his own path through various events." He also revealed the reason for choosing the project, saying, "When I read the script, I felt a strong energy that said, 'I have to do this.'" After finishing filming, he expressed special affection, saying, "'Si-yul' was a precious connection and a friend to me. I missed him a lot even after it ended."

The released character stills of 'Jang Si-yul' capture a completely new look of actor Rowoon, bringing surprise. The expression 'he changed his face' fits perfectly, creating admiration with a transformation never seen before. Director Choo Chang-min, who is in charge of the direction, said, "I said I would take away Rowoon's greatest weapon, his good looks, but he willingly agreed and has transformed his face and body," and praised Rowoon's passion, stating, "He worked hard in every scene, every moment, saying, 'I will do more' and poured out everything he had." Martial arts director Park Young-sik also commented, "He was a tiger like a deer. At first, his eyes were like a deer's, but when he exploded, the change was astonishing," praising Rowoon's dedication and authenticity as an actor, as he immersed himself to the limit even in intense action sequences. The first original historical drama series of Disney+, 〈Tangled〉, is an action drama about the fate of those who dreamed differently to turn the chaotic world surrounding Gyeonggang, where all the money and resources of Joseon gather, upside down and live like human beings. 〈Tangled〉 is directed by Choo Chang-min, who attracted ten million viewers with 〈Masquerade〉 in 2012, and is written by writer Cheon Seong-il, who presents a historical drama series for the first time in 14 years since 〈Chuno〉, and has been highly anticipated even before its release. In addition, actors Rowoon, Shin Ye-eun, Park Seo-ham, and Park Ji-hwan fill the drama with bold and delicate performances. In particular, it has been selected as an official invitation for the 'On Screen' section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, drawing attention as the most anticipated series of the year. 〈Tangled〉 will start releasing episodes 1-3 on 9/26 (Friday) on Disney+, followed by two episodes every week, totaling 9 episodes.
