'K-Pop Demon Hunters' Takes the Top Spot for Most Viewed Content on Netflix, Surpassing 'Squid Game'!

The Netflix movie 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 has become the most viewed content in Netflix history, setting an unprecedented record across both movies and series.

According to data released by Netflix's official site 'Tudum' on the 3rd, 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 has recorded a cumulative view count of 266 million. This is the highest figure among all Netflix content combined in the movie and series categories.

The work surpassed the previous 1st and 2nd place titles for the first time as view counts were updated last week (August 25-31). Just two weeks ago, it was in 3rd place behind 'Squid Game Season 1' (2021, 265.2 million views) and 'Wednesday Season 1' (2022, 252.1 million views), but it has now flipped the situation dramatically.

Notably, it has renewed records for works released during the COVID-19 pandemic when OTT viewership surged. At that time, there was a unique situation where online video service usage skyrocketed due to restrictions on outings and social distancing.

Even in the movie category alone, 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 has secured the top spot. The second place is held by the action thriller 〈Red Notice〉 (2021, 230.9 million views) starring Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds.

Netflix ranks popularity based on cumulative view counts over a 91-day period after content release. 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 was released on June 20 and still has two weeks of counting left, so there is potential for further record-breaking.

On the 23rd-24th (local time), a special 'sing-along' screening was held in U.S. theaters where audiences sang along while watching the movie, more than two months after its release.
