Singer IU announced on the 10th that she has surprisingly released her new single 'Bye, Summer' without any prior notice. Despite being a surprise release without any promotional activities or teasers, the song achieved an immediate response, ranking 9th on Melon's 'Top 100' chart as of 9 AM on the same day.

'Bye, Summer' is a song that conveys a farewell message as summer departs. IU participated in the composition alongside composer Seo Dong-hwan, who composed the hit song 'Love Wins All', and she also wrote the lyrics herself.

Her agency, Idam Entertainment, introduced the song as "a piece that allows you to feel the end of summer with IU's unique lyrical vocals, a simple yet beautiful melody, and refreshing band sounds."

The song was first revealed at IU's solo concert held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium last September. At that time, IU explained, "During this tour, it felt like summer was particularly long," and added, "But I want to say that this summer was the best summer because I spent it with you all. Since summer was unusually long and filled with love, I wanted to share this song."

Meanwhile, IU is scheduled to hold a fan meet-up at the KSPO Dome in Olympic Park, Seoul, from the 13th to the 14th, and she is currently filming the drama 〈21st Century Great Lady〉.
