'K-Demon Hunters' director Maggie Kang candidly shared her thoughts on fans' expectations for a director's cut.
On the 13th, Netflix Korea released a video titled 'Maggie Kang X Ahn Hyo-seop Behind the Scenes Interview' on their YouTube channel. On this day, 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 director Maggie Kang and actor Ahn Hyo-seop, who voices 'Jinu', discussed behind-the-scenes production and casting stories.
As fans' expectations for a director's cut of 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 grow, director Maggie Kang made it clear that there will be no director's cut. She stated, "There is no director's cut. We only made one completed version, and that was already quite challenging," adding, "While there were many great scenes during the story development and editing process, we boldly cut parts that did not fit when watching the entire film."
However, Director Kang also mentioned, "For the overall quality of the film, it was important to remove unnecessary scenes boldly, as the saying goes, 'kill your darlings.'" She continued, "There have been many requests for a director's cut, but realistically, we put all our effort into making just one version," and noted, "Creating multiple edited versions is a very difficult task."
Meanwhile, the Netflix animated film 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 continues to create a sensation, ranking first in viewership among all Netflix content ever.
