Park Ji-hyun revealed that she even fasted to portray a cancer patient facing death.
In the Netflix series 〈You and Everything Else〉, which was released on the 12th, actress Park Ji-hyun, who plays the role of 'Sang-yeon', met with Cineplay on the afternoon of the 25th in Jongno-gu, Seoul, to share behind-the-scenes stories about the work.
〈You and Everything Else〉 is a story about two friends, Eun-jung (Kim Go-eun) and Sang-yeon (Park Ji-hyun), who are intertwined throughout their lives, loving and longing for each other at every moment, while also feeling jealousy and hatred. Park Ji-hyun portrayed the complex character of 'Sang-yeon', who feels that she was not loved by those she wanted to be loved by and envies 'Eun-jung', ultimately severing ties with her beloved 'Eun-jung'.
Sang-yeon in 〈You and Everything Else〉 visits Eun-jung with a request to accompany her to Switzerland for assisted dying due to terminal cancer. Regarding her efforts to portray a terminal cancer patient, Park Ji-hyun said, "I acted with my breath. As my breath deteriorated, I felt my body and posture collapsing." She added, "I simply and foolishly fasted for about 3 weeks. Because I had a vague thought that it might be the closest feeling to death that I could experience in the shortest time possible." Additionally, Park Ji-hyun mentioned, "While fasting, my body became thin, my face swelled, and it turned yellow. So before filming, I cried for hours thinking that I had to create that look."
All episodes of the 15-episode series 〈You and Everything Else〉, featuring Park Ji-hyun, are currently available for viewing on Netflix.
