‘Everything Will Come True’ Receives a Hot Response! Kim Eun-sook's Q&A Released

According to Netflix Tudum's TOP 10 website, 〈Everything Will Come True〉 ranked 5th in the global TOP 10 series (non-English) category just 3 days after its release.

During the Chuseok holiday, Netflix series 〈Everything Will Come True〉 revealed a hot response along with a Q&A from writer Kim Eun-sook. On October 8, according to Netflix Tudum's TOP 10 website, 〈Everything Will Come True〉 recorded 4,000,000 views (the value obtained by dividing the viewing time by the total running time of the work) just 3 days after its release, ranking 5th in the global TOP 10 series (non-English) category. Additionally, it has maintained the 1st place in 'South Korea's TOP 10 series' since its release and has made it to the TOP 10 lists in 46 countries worldwide, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Egypt, and Morocco, continuing to attract 'hot' interest.

At the center of the praise for 〈Everything Will Come True〉 is writer Kim Eun-sook. Her unique worldview, exciting narrative, and diverse characters make viewers dissect every element of the work, leading them to 'multiple viewings'. Above all, 〈Everything Will Come True〉 weaves a deep message about 'human nature' within a thrilling and delightful romance. Kim Eun-sook stated, “Kayoung believes her nature is evil. However, she knows that her grandmother and the whole village raised her with love, so she tries to suppress her nature and live her life making 'good choices'. So, is Kayoung a good person or a bad person? Through this question, I wanted to convey that what matters more than how a person is born is the choices they make in life, and that the essence of 'humanity' lies in those choices. Ultimately, I wanted to talk about the good nature of humans who strive to make good choices, and that love between people guides those choices in a more righteous direction.”

Below is the full Q&A with writer Kim Eun-sook.

Q. You can't leave out the 'famous lines' in Kim Eun-sook's works. What do you think will be the 'kick' line of this work?

Are you asking me to pick? You're really the devil (laughs). I think famous lines and kick lines are different; I believe the viewers will choose the famous lines, so I picked a few lines that could be the kick lines.

“What does this mean! What are you in love with! What do you like about me!”

“Habibti (my love).”

“This is a chain kiss!”

“You’re still really terrible and cute.”

“If there’s a next life, I hope we meet again.”

“I can kill in place of someone. But this, won’t you give me? For love?”

“How dare you! A human made of mud dares!”

Q. If you had to pick your favorite scene from 〈Everything Will Come True〉?

I like the 'Oasis scene' where Kayoung (played by Suzy) teaches Genie (played by Kim Woobin) to waltz while saying lines that are completely out of place for the beautiful situation, and the 'Golden Rain Plaza scene' where the devil Genie ironically wishes for a human, making even the devil shed tears of blood. I also like the 'village people scene' where young Kayoung is raised together and the 'studying the metal scene' where Kayoung learns emotions, and the 'How pathetic' scene where Suzy perfectly expresses the first tears of a psychopath. Among them, my overwhelming favorite is the 'Hey, you psychopath!' scene from episode 8.

Q. How was your experience meeting actors Ahn Eun-jin and Noh Sang-hyun, aside from Kim Woobin and Suzy?

Su-hyun is an angel among angels, the angel of death. She is tired of humans and is always on the lookout for the day she can strike Genie at God's command. So, the line that expresses Su-hyun is 'arrogantly and holy', and when I saw Noh Sang-hyun, he was just like that. His face, where good and evil coexist, was mysterious, and he moves freely between arrogance and holiness in the drama. He also expressed the clumsy jealousy that comes out every time he faces his brother Genie very well.

The role of the metal is a character that has to portray the soul of a 70-year-old grandmother in the form of a 20-year-old woman, so both actors had to perform. Having two actors for one character is a big adventure, but Ahn Eun-jin succeeded in completing the character of the 20-year-old metal so adorably and perfectly, following teacher Kim Mi-kyung. Although her body has become young, she is the only actress who can convey the feelings of a grandmother who still worries about her granddaughter to the viewers.

Q. The reason for choosing Song Hye-kyo, Daniel Henney, and Kim Ji-hoon for special appearances as Genie, Kim Gae, and the knight, respectively?

In fact, the choice was made by me. Asking those actors for a few short scenes was difficult for me as well. They had to come a long way and had to read the entire script to understand the context, yet they graciously agreed to appear, for which I am very grateful. Song Hye-kyo, who looked like a goddess, Daniel Henney, who looked like a 'dog', and Kim Ji-hoon, who looked like a search party, thanks to them, important scenes gained a magical 'edge'.

Q. The ultimate message you wanted to convey through 〈Everything Will Come True〉?

Kayoung believes her nature is evil. Ultimately, I wanted to talk about the good nature of humans who strive to make good choices, and that love between people guides those choices in a more righteous direction.

Q. To the viewers around the world who love 〈Everything Will Come True〉?

If you are reading this article in your language, it is because I worked with the best OTT Netflix, which is broadcast simultaneously in over 180 countries (laughs). Thank you sincerely for giving your precious time to 〈Everything Will Come True〉. I was curious about what your three wishes might be, living in a distant city with a language and culture different from my own in South Korea. I hope you enjoy watching it and come visit Korea in the season of cherry blossoms.
