〈Witness〉 〈Along with the Gods〉 starring Kim Hyang-gi, 〈Her Hobby〉 directed by Ha Myung-mi, has confirmed its release in November and unveiled the first poster depicting the survival journey of a mother and daughter set in the heart of Jeju in 1948. 〈Hanran〉 is a film that captures the strong survival journey of a mother and daughter who crossed mountains and seas to survive, set in Jeju in 1948.

The unveiled 〈Hanran〉 first poster features a mother and daughter (Kim Hyang-gi, Kim Min-chae) holding hands tightly in a rainy mountain setting, sparking curiosity about the film. The tagline "The survival journey of a mother and daughter who crossed the mountains and seas of Jeju in 1948" hints at the challenging journey of Kim Hyang-gi transformed into a strong mother and Kim Min-chae playing her young daughter, leaving a deep impression. The image of the mother and daughter walking together in rain gear to avoid the rain reflects the chaos and historical tragedy of Jeju in 1948, heightening expectations for Kim Hyang-gi's new performance as a strong woman of Jeju. Additionally, the daughter (Kim Min-chae) holding her mother's (Kim Hyang-gi) hand evokes memories of Kim Hyang-gi's childhood, adding to the anticipation of the delicate mother-daughter chemistry that the two actresses will create.

〈Hanran〉 means 'the orchid of Hallasan that blooms in winter' and, like the 'Hanran' that blooms without breaking even in the cold, the film captures the nobility of unyielding life and the greatness of life through the survival journey of a mother and daughter who fled to Hallasan in Jeju in 1948. Hanran (寒蘭) is a special orchid that only grows naturally on Hallasan in Jeju, designated as Natural Monument No. 191, symbolizing strength, survival, and hope as it blooms even in harsh environments of rocks and wind.

In particular, 〈Hanran〉 is attracting attention as the comeback film of actress Kim Hyang-gi, who captivated ten million viewers with 〈Witness〉 and 〈Along with the Gods〉 series. Kim Hyang-gi plays 'A-jin', a Jeju haenyeo (female diver) who is a strong mother willing to face any danger for her daughter 'Hae-saeng'. Expectations are high for Kim Hyang-gi's passionate performance as she transforms into a woman and mother of Jeju in 1948. The role of daughter 'Hae-saeng' is played by rising star Kim Min-chae, who resembles Kim Hyang-gi and is expected to leave a deep impression on the audience with her delicate acting. Furthermore, 〈Hanran〉 is directed and written by Ha Myung-mi, who received recognition for her directorial debut 〈Her Hobby〉, which won two awards at the 27th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, delivering a profound story that should not be forgotten about Jeju in 1948.

〈Hanran〉 has been recognized for its excellence since the script stage and has been selected as a supported project by the Jeju Content Agency for the 2024 Jeju Diversity Film Production Support, as well as being selected for the Newcomer category of the Korean Film Council's Independent Art Film Production Support. It was also invited to the 30th Aichi International Women's Film Festival in September, garnering a warm response from festival audiences. Additionally, it has been selected as a supported project by the Gyeonggi Content Agency for indie cinema distribution, accelerating preparations for its release.
