‘You and My 5 Minutes’ No-Guarantee Lee Dong-hwi, First Dialect Acting Challenge with Gong Min-jung!

In 2001, when everything was unfamiliar and anything was new, the movie 〈You and My 5 Minutes〉 tells the story of two boys sharing their favorite music and secrets, featuring the reliable actors Gong Min-jung and Lee Dong-hwi, capturing attention. 〈You and My 5 Minutes〉 has received numerous accolades from prestigious film festivals, including the Best Film Award at the 20th Jecheon International Music Film Festival, the JAIHO Award at the 20th Osaka Asian Film Festival, and the Ddaengrang Coin Award at the 27th Jeongdongjin Independent Film Festival, along with official invitations to the 50th Seoul Independent Film Festival and the 25th Kaohsiung Film Festival, garnering hot attention even before its release. This film is the feature debut of director Um Ha-neul, who has showcased a unique perspective and lyrical sensibility through short films such as 〈Peter Pan's Dream〉, 〈Not Found〉, and 〈Embarrassed〉, and it has stirred interest by utilizing ‘DEPARTURES’, a mega hit song by the legendary 1990s J-POP group globe, representing Japan's winter and first love. Additionally, the film stars Shim Hyun-seo, who showcased exceptional dance skills as 'Billy' in the musical 〈Billy Elliot〉, and Hyun Woo-seok, an emerging icon in the independent film scene with the face of youth, promising excitement and lingering emotions with their delicate emotional lines and sparkling chemistry.

The supporting cast, who robustly backs the film alongside Shim Hyun-seo and Hyun Woo-seok, also draws attention with their flawless performances. First, the role of 'Kyung-sook', the mother of 'Kyung-hwan (Shim Hyun-seo)', is played by the acclaimed actress Gong Min-jung. Gong Min-jung has been active in both independent and commercial films, appearing in works such as 〈Only Known as Other〉, 〈Sprinter〉, 〈Concrete Utopia〉, and 〈Romance Without Love〉, as well as Netflix original series 〈In Jung and Sang-yeon〉, KBS Joy 〈Sorry Again Today〉, tvN 〈Marry My Husband〉, and Netflix original series 〈Morning Comes to the Psychiatric Ward〉. This is Gong Min-jung's first challenge in dialect acting, portraying a young mother with a high school son, and director Um Ha-neul mentioned, "Thanks to actress Gong Min-jung taking on the role of 'Kyung-sook', the young mother 'Kyung-sook' from the past has been vividly expressed." Furthermore, Lee Dong-hwi, who became a ten-million actor with films 〈Crime City 4〉 and 〈Extreme Job〉, appears as 'Young-cheol', the homeroom teacher of 'Kyung-hwan' and 'Jae-min (Hyun Woo-seok)', injecting vitality into the film. Lee Dong-hwi decided to participate without a guarantee after building a personal friendship with director Um Ha-neul, who he first met on the set of the film 〈Maybe We Broke Up〉, upon hearing that director Um was preparing his first feature film. Director Um Ha-neul expressed gratitude, saying, "Thanks to senior Lee Dong-hwi, the character 'Young-cheol' appears as a weighty character in the film."
