On the 20th, in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Seo Soo-bin, the lead actor of director Yoon Ga-eun's film 〈The Master of the World〉, shared his feelings about debuting in this film. Seo Soo-bin, a rookie actor selected by director Yoon Ga-eun, received praise for his 'astonishing performance' after making his debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.
First, actor Seo Soo-bin said, "I still feel like I can't quite grasp it," and added, "It's amazing that my face is so large on the screen." Regarding the process of creating the character Lee Joo-in, he stated, "Since the master is a class president and a model student, I tried to focus on those characteristics, like being good at studying and taking care of friends, which I find lacking in myself. I tried to apply that to my daily life by being more considerate of my friends than before."
About the chemistry with actress Jang Hye-jin, who appeared as her mother, he said, "She always made the atmosphere on set lively. Thanks to her, I laughed a lot and received a lot of encouragement, so I am very grateful." Regarding the working process with director Yoon Ga-eun, he mentioned, "Instead of giving specific directions, she created situations that allowed me to really immerse myself in them. She made efforts to ensure that I could spend time with the actors who play my friends in the film."
He also shared some behind-the-scenes moments. "The car wash scene was the most burdensome for me. However, the director had us practice other scenes, but she didn't have us practice that one. I started feeling nervous, but I naturally got immersed in it. I understood why the director didn't have us practice. After the car wash scene, the director hugged me and thanked me," he shared.
Yoon Ga-eun's new film, 〈The Master of the World〉, will be released on October 22.
